A Lifetime in Radar: Dr. Vernon Singhroy on Innovation, Influence, and Mentorship

Dr. Vernon Singhroy is one of Canada’s most influential Earth Observation scientists, recognized globally for his leadership in radar remote sensing and geohazard monitoring. With more than 300 publications and decades of work on RADARSAT missions, he has shaped how SAR is used for infrastructure safety, environmental monitoring, and climate-related analysis.

At GeoIgnite 2025, I sat down with Dr. Singhroy to discuss the evolution of radar, the bridge between scientific research and policy, and his lifelong commitment to mentoring the next generation of geospatial professionals. In this conversation, he shares both technical insight and personal reflections on building a meaningful career in remote sensing.
